Experienced Rider Course (ERC)
Even if you have been riding for a long time, there is always something
new to learn. This one day course, typically held on Saturdays or
Sundays, is for riders who already own and ride a motorcycle and are interested in state-of-the-art motorcycle handling techniques or just
brushing up on their safe street riding skills. Increasing numbers
of seasoned riders are coming to the Experienced Rider Course to
fine-tune their riding and mental skills needed for survival in
traffic.
In the classroom, you'll discuss with your peers how to
balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, managing risk,
increasing visibility and optimizing lane position. The course also
covers protective gear, rider responsibility,
motorcycle inspection and care, and the effects of alcohol and other drugs
on riding.
On the range, using your own motorcycle, you will put into practice
intense riding activities, including the techniques of managing traction, stopping quickly, cornering and
swerving.
To qualify for participation in the ERC, you must have at least
one (1) month riding experience and have a motorcycle license or endorsement on
your driver's license. Riders must provide a street-legal bike
that passes a safety inspection (T-clock) and provide proof of insurance
and ownership. If the motorcycle is not owned by the rider,
notarized, written approval from the owner to use the motorcycle in the
course must be provided. Additionally, handlebars should not be
over 15 inches from the grips to the lowest part of the seat.
All students must wear the protective gear listed at the
left.
Upon completion of the Experienced Rider Course, a graduate may receive an insurance discount from participating companies.
The classes are typically held on Saturday or Sunday from 7:00 AM until approximately
5:00 PM rain or shine. The fee for the ERC class is $125. Once your application is received, you will be notified of the
upcoming class dates. After you select and confirm the date of the
class that best fits your schedule, fees are non-refundable. You
must attend all class sessions. If you arrive late, you will be
rescheduled for another class, and will be charged a $50 rescheduling
fee.
Important: Classes are filled by a pre-paid advance
registration on a first come, first serve basis. After you register, you
will be notified by Florida Motorcycle Training, Inc. to confirm your
class date. Once your class date has been confirmed, a $50
rescheduling fee will be applied in the event you cannot attend the
scheduled class. To register for a class, click on the
