Basic Rider Course (BRC):
The Beginning Rider Course

This course is designed for beginning riders of all ages.  The Basic Rider Course consists of 15 hours of instruction including approximately 5 hours in the classroom and 10 hours of intense riding on the parking lot range.  This course will teach you how to operate a motorcycle safely, and strongly emphasizes the special skills and mental attitude required for dealing with every day riding.

Classroom instruction utilizes video DVD and a textbook to provide practical knowledge. You will learn about different types of motorcycles, their controls, and how they operate.  The RiderCoaches, all experienced motorcyclists, will advise you on the proper riding gear to ensure comfort and protection.  You will also learn how alcohol and other drugs affect your ability to ride safely.

The range at Florida Motorcycle Training, Inc. is a controlled, off-street, pedestrian-free environment.  Students use motorcycles provided by the school (on loan from local dealers) to learn and practice safely and correctly the various maneuvers and demanding situations encountered in street riding.

Riders must pass both a written test and a riding skills test in order to complete the course. Upon successful completion, you will be exempt from any requirement to take the State test for your motorcycle endorsement at the driver's license office.

All motorcycle riders, regardless of age, are required to take the BRC course.

All students must wear the protective gear listed at the left.

The class meets Friday evening, 6:00-10:30 PM, and then Saturday and Sunday beginning at 6:45 AM - 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM - 5:30 PM rain or shine.  The fee for this class is $210.  Once your application is received, you will be notified of the upcoming class dates.  After you select and confirm the date of the class that best fits your schedule, fees are non-refundable. You must attend all class sessions. If you arrive late, you will be rescheduled for another class, and will be charged a $50 rescheduling fee.

Important:  Classes are filled by a pre-paid advance registration on a first come, first serve basis. After you register, you will be notified by Florida Motorcycle Training, Inc. to confirm your class date. Once your class date has been confirmed, a $50 rescheduling fee will be applied in the event you cannot attend the scheduled class.
